Volunteers Insurance Service Association, Inc. (VIS), established in 1972, insures millions of volunteers who provide their time and skills to nonprofit organizations and governmental entities throughout the United States. The insurance program -- the only one of its kind -- protects volunteers in the event they are injured, accidentally injure someone else or damage someone's property, or are at fault in a vehicle accident while on volunteer assignments. VIS also offers the "VIS Vault" of risk management resources, 24/7, in the members' section of the Website. These resources have been developed based on the actual claims history of the VIS insurance program, and are excellent for safety training of volunteers in small groups or individually.
